More The Beast & The Beauty auditions!

Final auditions for The Beast & The Beauty are being held from 10am, Saturday, March 3 (and, if needed, from 4pm, March 5). Season dates are June 22 to July 14.

The Old Mill Theatre is presenting the world premiere of this new play by The Sum of Us and Breaker Morant playwright David Stevens. Directed by Mark De Friest, it’s based on the age-old story of Beauty and The Beast – but this time set in the late 1800s outback.

Currently, actors are needed for the roles of the STOCKMEN and FINLAY the storekeeper (stage ages 20-50s) and the storekeeper’s wife IRENE (stage age 40-50). [Please note: the parts of Tom, Belle, Jack, Andy, Jessie and the vicar have all been cast]

If you wish to book an audition, you MUST call Norma on 0402 249 249 or email, indicating which character you are interested in. If you have a CV and/or a photo, do not send it now – but please bring it along to your audition.

Finlay: Reasonably successful outback storekeeper, who is realistic, fair and honest.  Like the vicar, he is haunted by the decision he had to make regarding Tom’s survival and might do anything to justify that decision and have Tom achieve happiness. Download the FINLAY audition piece.

Irene: Finlay’s wife and as decent as he is.  Salt of the earth, as you might expect, but with a fairly low opinion of the things some men do. Download the IRENE audition piece.

Stockmen: A few hard-working station hands on Tom’s sheep station, mostly good blokes. Download the STOCKMEN audition piece.

There are several other minor roles that will be doubled by actors playing some of the parts above.

A full script can be sent to you when booking your audition time with Norma. Please note: she can ONLY assist with booking an audition time and sending scripts.
