Play readings back for 2014

The Old Mill Theatre’s play readings for members and friends are back for 2014, starting with the drama Terminus by Melbourne playwright Daniel Keane on Wednesday, April 9.

Daniel Keene has written for the theatre since 1979 and his plays have been performed widely throughout Australia and overseas, especially in France. His plays have received numerous literary awards.

Terminus was described in Paris Voice as “Keene’s darkest picture yet of the consequences of social alienation” which nevertheless offers “redemptive possibilities in both fiction and reality”. Terminus has been widely produced in major French theatres, garnering enthusiastic critical acclaim.

It’s a 6.30pm for a 7pm start in the theatre’s Constance Ord Room. Supper will be provided so please RSVP for catering purposes. For more details, call Siobhán O’Gara on 0409 374 731 or email siobhanog@westnet.com.au.

The next play reading will be held on June 11 with a one-act play from John Lewington. People who have other one-act plays they would like to read should get in touch.

Other play reading will be held on August 13 and November 12. Suggestions for plays welcome – please contact Siobhán with your ideas.
